Hi bros,

Wondering if any of you can help me here.
I just sent my ride for 20,000km servicing, and i did the Coolant Flush as per C&C recommended menu.

Am on a 1.5EX Auto. The workshop pulled out the coolant hose near the bottom left hand area of the engine, let the Green coolant out, fixed back the hose and then topped up 1L of Bizol coolant thru the radiator cap, mixed with water. The technician kept revving the engine which resulted in more green coolant coming out from the radiator cap area and kept topping up water.

Is that the correct way to flush coolant?
Cos here is what i noticed.

Using the Trip Computer's temp gauge, i noticed that after my coolant flush issue, the temps seem hotter. When idling and during stop start traffic the temp bar now sits exactly below the "Bulb" area of the thermometer thingy at the water temp screen, this means that the temp bar now covers half of the entire temp gauge (not counting the small segment at the end of the gauge). Only when i travel on the highway at high speeds does that red temp bar fall 1 notch to slightly on the left of the bulb.

Is this normal? Cos if i am not mistaken, before the flush, when i am on the original factory coolant, the temp bar never went that high before....

Under any circumstances the temp bar previously never moved just under the Temp Bulb picture.
Here are some photos.

1) This is what i thought is the normal water temp (before this coolant flush)
The bar never goes above this position

2) After the coolant flush, this is where the temp bar under normal driving (idle, city driving etc) is.
It will only become like pic 1 once i hit high speed on the highway.

Could someone advice if this is normal?
Thanks!

My water temp gauge is the same level as yours before the coolant flush.

I've not flushed my car coolant yet.
Suggest you get C&C to check your car cooling system again.

Hey how come your 20K servicing got coolant flush? C&C never mention anything about coolant flush during my 20K service. Usually coolant flush / replacement will happen during the 40K service program. Wierd~~

Anyway there is nothing to be paranoid about. My car's water temperature(with no coolant flush), since day 1 is the same as that shown in the 2nd picture....and i believe the marking shown in the 2nd picture is the correct one since it's positioned exactly at the half mark and that it is the optimum temperature for the engine to operate at its peak :) Its normal.

yup i agree its normal, bro dihudaxia.. no worries or cause for alarm.

but i believe that according to mitsubishi's service schedule, radiator coolant flush is at 40k. but i'm changing mine at 50k (next servicing) as recommended by a lot of workshops.. toyota's coolant is good stuff! :D
