I was quite curious when a friend driving an STi pointed out to another that a possible reason to his alternator damaged could be cause by lightened crank pulley. Was pondering why for some time till I came across this thread in MCF.

For CS3, lighten crank pulley no problem. Reason our after market version and stock share the same diameter, only lighter. Every mod have pros & cons. (belt wear off faster, climbing hill a little more siong).
For Subaru (not too sure if TS, WRX, STi all the same), for their, their after market crank pulley is different size with STOCK. Think need to change more then 1 pulley. Can't remember. Also this might have altered the original designed rotating patterns or speed of the alternator.
As for the pix, I heard there is 1 brand of lighten pulley for CS3 have multiple complain that it failed.

This crank pulley issues you can see there are lots of different views.
Some say need to get one with harmonic damper, some say not necessary.
Which to believe is up to you.
Every mods sure have people with different views.

Btw, any problem going up Genting Highlands after changing to lightened crank pulley?
Be it MT or AT. :flowers:
