it's recommended to do so lor...
but i understand dat KNN filters need to be oiled...i believe dats y their filtration is one of the best as the dust wud stick to the oil...if dats the case...using air gun might not be able to clear the residue formed...dunno if washing helps but got to make sure the filter is absolutely dried before putting back for use...
fyi, i have a bro who uses KNN filter and one day, his ride has some problems and was traced to a dirty TB clogged with oily stuff...not sure if it is caused by the filter...u might wish to take note...

I usually wash my filter every 10K as I felt the jet gun method dun seem to be "clean" enuff haha... However, washing will result in the middle layer of cotton to weaken over time, hence once I hit 40K-50K, I'll replace the filter itself with a new one. Should only cost $50-$80. Cheers!

agreed. most likely any filter with some tiny hole can easily bring alien object into the TB. Even Stock. Stock is even worse since it's made out of paper....

In terms of filtration, I think nothing beats stock paper filter.
Performance wise, aftermarket such as K&N, Hurricane, Simota etc. can be considered lah.

depends on wat u looking for.
stock filter is the best in filtration. if u take out the stock filter, shine a light thru, u cant even see the light clearly on the other side. after market ones, most probably is the other way round.
but if filtration is good, ur airflow will be affected. most probably air will not pass through easily.
so it is filtration vs airflow. u have to decide which one u wan.

intake mod is not regulated by LTA. they are more concerned abt the exhuast. however, having a loud sound does attract ants. cos i believe to them, loud sound = u modded. :)
so u might be stopped for checks and end up u get summoned for ur other mods. :???:

Will too much airflow damage engine in long run since more airflow means more particles pass thru the air filter into the engine?

in theory, yes. but i do believe engines are built to last and the difference in stock filtration and after market ones will not be too significant to cause damage to the engine.

Sorry guys i still have a question, will too much cold air affect the engine.
I mean if we go to Genting or other place where the air is much much colder :?:
battle

don't think too much cold air will affect the engine, cause by the time air reach engine, kanna heated up liao. cause I notice after my intake pipe, at the block just before the engine (not too sure call what), super duper hot, (think heat from engine), so cold air will eventually got heated up when entering the engine. (BTW, me using Open Pod, CAI)
As for drop in filter, I wash my dad's filter every few mths (abt 3 mths) cause since I buy the washing kit liao, can't finish, so wash & oil lor (oil got to follow the guide, XX ml of oil / filter). his drop in use for 3 years liao.
