Default Getting a Lancer EX but...2.0 GT or 1.5 GLS? Some help here please!

    Hi Bros,

I'm looking to get a second hand Lancer EX with about 3-4 years remaining. But I'm torn between the 2.0 GT and the 1.5 GLS, Some advice please?

    What i need is:
    Good FC
Enough power to smoothly drive around with full load (5 people on board)
Not too noisy, heard some batches have really loud exhaust?

All comments/advices are very much welcome! Thanks bros!

hi bro, 1.5 if you're power hungry it wont have enough power even if you're alone (stock condition) . i would actually suggest a 2.0 GT, slower in pickup cos of the CVT gb, but once it reaches mid to high end, the power will give a smile on your face...

fc wise my customers are getting around 9 - 11km/L . for 1.5 around 10 - 13... for my last time 1.5 with high % of highway, about to hit 700 per tank lights up, aorund 14.5km/L

but for 2.0... if you run alot of highway, the CVT is very efficent too, 12-13 should not be a problem IMHO....

Bro for your consideration there are some additional features which can only be found in the 2.0 GLS/GT:
(assuming previous owner has not changed)
    - the interior seats are different
    - 18" wheels (tyres will cost more than 16/17")
    - HID (certain batches)
    - Rockford ICE (certain batches)
    - Chrome exhaust
    - Spoiler
    - Paddle Shifters (helps in the pickup imho)

GT has Rear Disc Brake. Totally spoiled the look of a car.

whiplash00, i'm not quite sure what you mean? You recommend GT because of the rear disc brake but it ruins the outlook of the car? is that what you meant?

But i heard the larger rims can contribute to bad FC and make the ride not as comfotable. Is that much true?
The Rockford ICE is one of the major push factors. AWESOME SOUND.
Paddle shifters are well...meh to me. I find it impractical on sg roads with so many left and right turns. good for highways though.

2L will have higher operating costs, road tax and insurance. But drive experience is better overall. Check for any factory recall for cvt drive belt pulley. Recently got recall for 2008 models.
